Sometimes, discovering a new place in Davao doesn't necessarily mean looking for something loud or overly trendy. Sometimes, it's simply finding a space where you can slow down, enjoy a good drink, and appreciate the atmosphere.
That was my first impression of Cadenza Bar, the lobby bar of Aria Hotel & Residences.
Located on the third floor of Aria Hotel & Residences at Aeon Towers, Cadenza Bar is one of the hotel's dining concepts, alongside Rhapsody Asian Fusion and Maison Patisserie. The hotel describes Cadenza as an "exhilarating blend of artistry and improvisation"—and I can definitely see where that idea comes from.
First Impressions: Elegant but Relaxing
What immediately caught my attention was the interior. Cadenza has a polished, contemporary look, but it doesn't feel intimidating or overly formal. The floor-to-ceiling windows bring in plenty of natural light, while the lounge chairs and warm details make the space feel comfortable enough for a casual afternoon drink or a more intimate evening.
And, of course, there's that bright red grand piano. It's such a statement piece that you can't help but notice it the moment you enter the space. For me, it adds personality to the otherwise sophisticated interiors and gives Cadenza a little extra character.
I also love that the space has views toward the busy street of Bajada. It's the kind of place where I could imagine sitting down with a drink, catching up with friends, having a casual meeting, or simply taking a break from the usual Davao routine.
A Taste of Something Different
During my visit, I tried a beautifully plated salad featuring fresh-looking greens, pink pomelo-like citrus segments, and crispy toppings, with a lime & honey dressing. The presentation was definitely eye-catching, with a nice balance of colors and textures that made it look as good as it photographed. I also got to try one of their refreshing mango drinks. The drink had that bright, tropical mango flavor that immediately felt refreshing. It was sweet, fruity, and easy to enjoy, especially in a setting as relaxing as Cadenza.
For someone like me, who enjoys discovering dishes like this, it's part of the fun of exploring new dining spots. It's not just about finding a place with a beautiful interior or a refreshing drink; it's also about enjoying the little details that make the whole experience memorable.
And at Cadenza Bar, the food, drinks, and elegant atmosphere all come together to make the visit feel like a little treat.
Why I'd Come Back
What I like about Cadenza is that it doesn't feel like you need a special occasion just to visit. You can dress up and make it part of a night out, but you can also simply drop by for a drink and enjoy the space.
There's something about sitting beside those large windows, looking out at the city, surrounded by comfortable interiors and that iconic red piano, that makes the experience feel a little different from your usual café or bar. And because Cadenza is part of Aria Hotel & Residences, it also gives you the option to turn a simple food-and-drinks outing into a bigger staycation or dining experience.
My Take
For me, Cadenza Bar is one of those places where the atmosphere is just as important as what's on the table. The elegant interiors, city views, comfortable lounge setup, eye-catching red piano, and selection of handcrafted drinks give it a distinct personality. Aria itself is built around a music-inspired concept, with the hotel describing its brand as a harmonious experience between guests and the property.
So if you're looking for a new place in Davao to unwind, catch up with friends, enjoy a drink, or simply experience a more elevated setting, Cadenza Bar is definitely worth adding to your list.
For me, it's giving premium foodie vibes, but make it relaxed.
