Last April 29, I had the privilege of joining the Kapihan with Mindanao Media, where we were given an inspiring look into MILO Philippines' ongoing efforts to champion youth development through grassroots sports. Led by Carlo Sampan, Head of MILO Sports.
Empowering Kids Through Sports
MILO continues to uphold its belief that sports teach essential life values: discipline, grit, teamwork, and resilience. These are more than athletic skills; they’re building blocks of character, and MILO® is making sure kids across the country have access to them.
Sir. Carlo shared: “We believe sports teach kids life skills that help them succeed.” It made me reflect on how valuable these lessons are: discipline, teamwork, and perseverance. Whether it’s learning how to swim or making that first basket, kids today need these wins, both big and small.
What to look forward to at the MILO Marathon 2025 in Mindanao?
As a Mindanaoan, this was the part that made me sit up a little straighter. We’re getting a fantastic lineup of events soon:
- Walk, Run, and Roll in Surigao (July 20)
- 1st Mindanao Cheerdance Championships in Davao
- Gymnastics Camp in CDO (June)
- Football Cup in South Mindanao
- National karate, taekwondo, swimming, and basketball events (TBA)
