A Night Under the Stars

They say there is a first time for everything, and if every "first" felt as magical as the DBS Christmas Party, I’d be living in a dream. After eight years of being part of the blogging community, I finally attended my very first Christmas party with the Davao Bloggers Society (DBS) — and honestly, it felt like a full-circle moment.

From the moment I checked into the Home Crest Hotel, I knew I was in for a treat. There’s nothing like that "staycation" feeling to get you in the mood for a grand celebration. A quick refresh, a few rings for a touch of sparkle, and it was time to head to the main event. The night was filled with sparkle, culture, laughter, and the kind of connections that remind you why you joined the community in the first place.

The moment I stepped into the venue, I felt it — that warm, buzzing energy that only happens when people are genuinely happy to see each other. The lights reflected beautifully on the woven backdrop, the floral arrangements gave that festive Filipino elegance, and everywhere you looked, bloggers were glowing — not just because of the lighting, but because of joy.

As someone attending for the first time after eight years, I didn’t know what to expect. But instead of feeling out of place, I felt welcomed. Parang reunion ng barkada na matagal mo nang hindi nakikita — familiar faces, warm hugs, endless kwentuhan.

That alone already made my heart full.

This year’s celebration wasn’t just your typical Christmas get-together. It was elegant, vibrant, and proudly Filipino. I came dressed in a modern Filipiniana-inspired outfit — black and gold details, statement accessories, and of course, confidence to match.

The highlight of the evening? I am still pinching myself, but I was honored to receive a Ginoong Kagandahan, or Best Dressed Award! Standing on that stage alongside such talented and well-dressed individuals was an incredible feeling. It wasn’t just about the clothes, though; it was about the warmth and recognition from a community I am so proud to be a part of.

The night was a whirlwind of laughter, delicious food, and meaningful connections. Seeing everyone decked out in their finest cultural attire reminded me of why I love Davao—the diversity, the talent, and the genuine support we have for one another.

As I look back on that night — the lights, the laughter, the cultural fashion, the friendships — I can confidently say: it was worth attending.

Here’s to more events, more collaborations, and more shared milestones with this amazing community.

To my fellow bloggers: thank you for making my first DBS Christmas party unforgettable.

And to anyone reading this — never underestimate the magic of finally saying yes to showing up.
