Money Under 30

What is your biggest frustration specific to saving money? I always have financial difficulties and/or challenge when I hear the word "savings'. Now that I'm on my prime years, I always have a lot of frustrations that I haven't yet done or experience when I was on my 20's though I'm still at early 20's cause I tend to be not mindful on my spending habbit in which I regret eventually.

Just this late July Sun Life Philippines just had an event called “#SunlifeFUNday: Let’s Have Some Funds.” Where they talked about money saving, budgeting and investing for the millennials like myself. They've invited entrepreneur and a financial adviser guest speakers like Mark Bonifacio and JB Fabian. In here, I jotted notes from the guest speakers of my favorite tips on how to manage our finances respectively:

Create a realistic budget:
  • List, track and get hold of expenses
  • Use apps
  • Make savings automatic
  • Living less than you earn
  • Emergency funds (3-6mons)

Find ways to earn:
  • Stream income
  • Skills or talents
  • Part-time
  • Small business

"If you save me today, I'll save you tomorrow by Money"

Getting out of the money rut:
  • Identify your goal
  • Start with whatever you have now
  • Learn as much you can

Bought these "alkansya" last few Sunday's after the event for only 20 pesos each. Isn't it ironic how cheap these money-saving instruments yet we tend not to buy one. It's time to change the old spending and saving habit of mine. Challenge yourself as well to be the change that you want. Save and invest while still young.
